Sam Buttrey Background
Finished his high school at one of the old schools of the United States, Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire. After that, he enrolled at Prince University in New Jersey, majoring in A.B. Statistics (1979-1983). While in college, he played Rugby and was in Terrace Club. Besides, he mentioned attending the University of California, Berkeley, but what subject he majored in and his graduation year is missing.
In 1983, he joined Cowen & Company, where he served as a Computer Systems Analyst until 1991.
In 1996, Buttrey joined Naval Postgraduate School as an associate professor. It’s been more than 27 years that he has been working as a professor.
Followed Jeopardy! Since The Age Of Seven
Buttrey remembers watching Jeopardy! as a 7-year-old kid at his grandma’s home. He was a great fan of the game show and followed it lifelong.
Before getting himself into the show, he used to watch it with his wife, Elinda Hardy, and kid. He states the game show is comforting, and the rules remain unchanged.
One fine day, the professor considered participating in his childhood fantasy game show, and his wife supported him too. Buttrey’s wife assisted with his training and prepped him on less familiar artistic subjects because he is more of a science guy.
