NPR has named Ayesha Rascoe host of Weekend Edition Sunday. She has been covering the White House for the network.

In 2008, Ayesha Rascoe joined Thomson Reuters as an Energy Reporter, prominently covering the notorious 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill and the United States’ response to the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.

In November 2014, she began as Energy and Environment Legal Correspondent. Two years later, she saw herself as a White House Correspondent in Thomson Reuters, where she covered the Obama White House

Nobody at NPR ever came to me and said, You need to be a little more polished on the radio. I do have a voice that is distinct. I sound like a Black woman from the South. Very easily, someone could have come to me and said, Hey, I think you need to clean that up a bit. But no one ever did.
